Abstract
‘Professionalisation’ of teaching implies the pedagogical authorities should acknowledge the expertise of people working in the field. Supervising trainees during their initial education is part of this expertise. At the Catholic University of Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium), a network of eighty supervisors, advisers or trainers in the field has gradually developed over the past twenty years. A yearly training session offered by the university enables them to improve the abilities related to the various aspects of their job. This article aims at presenting and discussing the place of these abilities in the job of training supervisor.
